INNOV’Nations – Innovation & Collaboration between Singapore & France

21 Mar 2018 – 2018 is a year where collaboration between France and Singapore around innovation has never been so strong. To celebrate the commitment of our nations towards smart and sustainable living and to take the conversation one step further, INNOV’Nations brought together thought leaders and innovators for a roundtable discussion.

Organised for the France-Singapore Innovation Year, hosted by the French Tech in collaboration with ENGIE, the French Chamber of Commerce, Lyf, Unabiz and Startup SG, the INNOV’Nations Leaders Session brought together a small group of thought leaders for an interactive discussion around smart living innovation. This session was a unique opportunity to exchange on urban trends and share insights from Singapore and France, an great occasion to hear from inspiring startup founders coming up with new innovations to transform cities.

Speakers included:

  • Edward Chen, Co-Founder, oBike, Singapore’s first homegrown stationless bicycle-sharing system with operations in several countries. The bikes have a built-in Bluetooth lock and can therefore be left anywhere at the end of a journey, not just at a docking station.
  • Martin Lim and Julius Tan, Co-Founders, Electrify, the first retail electricity marketplace in Southeast-Asia addressing the need for transparency and security in the consumption of energy. Building an intelligent energy ecosystem, it is also a blockchain pioneer and had closed an ICO worth $30M last month.
  • Taras Wankewycz, Founder, H3 Dynamics, which brings together advanced energy storage, robotics, and AI into one integrated solution. They are building self-powered field robots using H2 storage system, capable of collecting aerial data, which is relayed in real time as video, or processed into specific results accessible on the cloud.
  • Frank Phuan, Founder, Sunseap, the largest clean energy solutions provider in Singapore, with regional operations across South East Asia Pacific.
  • Sandra Marichal, Founder, Up2Degrees, bringing global perspectives in terms of the role cities have to play in the future, Sandra started Up2Degrees to keep the planet cool. She is encouraging Singaporeans to turn their aircon up to 2 degrees to impact the carbon footprint of the city.
  • Brian Kim, Co-Founder, Arcstone, which has developed an IoT/SaaS integrated platform to operationalise manufacturing data in real-time. Working with factories across South East Asia, they are implementing new solutions for the Factory 4.0.

We were then honoured to count among us the guests of honour Dr Beh Swan Gin, Chairman of the Singapore Economic Development Board, H.E. Marc Abensour, Ambassador of France and Isabelle Kocher, CEO of ENGIE Group for an open sharing session, which was then followed by a networking cocktail, during which a range of innovators showcased the concepts they had been working on.
