Breakfast Talk: Developing and Financing Renewable Energy Projects in SEA

8 Mar 2018 – The transition to low carbon energy generation combined with the search for higher return have given a rising number of developers and investors a toehold in the region to fund Asian renewable energy markets.

Reported 10GW of expressed interest is racing for securing the new solar FIT announced by Vietnamese MOIT in 2017. Indonesia has resumed signing solar and mini hydro power purchase agreements while closing the financing of the second greenfield wind project end of last year.

Latest solar auction process in Thailand did not manage to attract much interest from international developers, whereas neighbouring Cambodia has financed the first ground-mounted solar project and across SEA niche rooftop solar segment becomes increasingly mainstream. Is “Indo-Vietnam” the new axe of development for the solar and wind sectors in SEA?

Are off-shore wind and rooftop PV solar the segments with the best growth potential? Our panel of speakers shared with us great insights on the subject at this Breakfast Talk.
