20 Dec 2017 – The Institute for Research and Technology SystemX, a key player in collaborative research and open innovation in France, working on digital engineering of complex systems, has opened a representative office in Singapore in line with its 2020 strategic plan.
Born in 2012 under the auspices of the French State and French MNCs, the SystemX facility in Paris-Saclay has already conducted 31 multi-partner research projects and four European projects, involving 200 full-time equivalent employees, 75 industrial partners (large companies, SMEs and startups) and 21 university laboratories. The next step is to extend the reach of its applied research activities by co-locating with key stakeholders in territories outside France.
SystemX is starting off its activities in Singapore by participating in the CETRAN (Centre of Excellence for Testing and Research of Autonomous Vehicles) project. The aim of this five-year applied research project spearheaded by the Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N) is to determine the conditions for the safe operation of autonomous vehicles in Singapore. It encompasses activities related to digital modelling and simulation of operational safety and digital security applied to autonomous modes of transport. SystemX will work on areas in which it has particular expertise, developed through its projects SVA (Simulation of Autonomous Vehicle Safety), CTI (Cybersecurity for Intelligent Transport) and ISE (Intelligent Transport Systems Security).
“In four years, SystemX has demonstrated its ability to respond to the challenges presented by the digital transformation through a flexible, open, partner-based approach to applied research. Now it is time for us, in accordance with our 2016-2020 roadmap, to embark on a new phase of growth, with these two new facilities in Lyon and Singapore. We are keen to make our platforms and capabilities available to more academic and industrial partners, and bring our expertise to bear on innovative new use cases. We are proud to be joining the ecosystems of Greater Lyon and the City-State of Singapore, two territories at the cutting edge of digital innovation”, says François Stephan, Deputy CEO – International & Development at SystemX.
At this meeting, François-Xavier Lannuzel, Chief Representative of the SystemX office in Singapore shared with us more about the institute and its projects. Thank you all for joining us! Do visit our website for more upcoming events.
