Visit of the Solar Energy Research Institute of Singapore
24 Nov 2017 – The Solar Energy Research Institute of Singapore (SERIS), jointly sponsored by Singapore’s National Research Foundation (NRF) and NUS, commenced operations in 2008.
The institute conducts research, development, testing and consulting in the fields of solar energy conversion and solar and energy efficient buildings. The R&D spectrum covers materials, components, processes, systems and services, with an emphasis on solar photovoltaic cells, modules and systems. One of its kind in Asia and in the top 10 in the world.
Dr Thomas Reindl, Deputy CEO, SERIS, welcomed the group and presented SERIS, the technology developed and its industrial applications, following which Ms Monika Bieri, Research Associate, SERIS shared about the financial and economic aspects of developing solar energy in Singapore and in the region. The group then had the opportunity to visit the PV system monitoring, the Cleanroom and metallisation laboratories together with Mr Eddy Blokken, Business Development, SERIS and Dr Donny Lai, Research Scientist, SERIS.
