Rise of Green Bonds: Crédit Agricole CIB, IFC, SGX, Trust Capital

29 Nov 2016 – With a growing concern for climate change and environmental issues, especially further to the Paris climate summit, green bonds have sprung up across the globe, enabling capital-raising and investment for new and existing projects with social and environmental benefits (involving renewable energy, energy efficiency, green transport, wastewater management). This specific use of the funds raised distinguishes green bonds from plain vanilla bonds; In addition to evaluating the standard financial characteristics, investors also assess the specific environmental purpose of the projects the bonds intend to support.

Our experts discussed more about the potential of green bonds, explaining what they are, the market practices and trends in the market. The Breakfast Talk provided perspectives from different actors, from bond issuers and sponsors, local and international regulators, as well as investors.

Special thanks to our panellists Benjamin Lamberg, Global Co-Head of MTNs & Private Placements Group and Head of Asia Syndicate, Crédit Agricole CIB, Hong KongPhilippe Ahoua, Head, Treasury Client Solutions, Asia & Pacific, IFC (International Finance Corporation, a member of the World Bank Group)Michael Tang, Vice President, Head, Listing Policy & Product Admission, Regulation, Singapore Exchange (SGX) and Sandeep Bagla, Associate Director, Trust Capital, Mumbai.
