Optimising your business in the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC)

7 Jun 2016 – One of the key enablers in AEC is the ASEAN Free Trade Agreement, which allows companies that manufacture goods in ASEAN for ASEAN countries to enjoy lower import duties.

Harvey Koenig and Eugene Jang, Partner and Senior Manager at KPMG, discussed some of the tax considerations of investing in the ASEAN region, as well as some of the tax incentives available in the region.

In this session, the speakers focused on how companies with operations in ASEAN countries can optimise them with the establishment of the AEC. The session also included sharing of the AEC 2025 blueprint and what is to be expected of it.

The discussion also explored how groups use Singapore as a holding company jurisdiction for their expansion into ASEAN.
